I heard many of you were able to attend the book fair on Sunday.  Our class will be going tomorrow from 9-9:30.  Parents are more than welcome to come at that time to shop with your son or daughter for some new books.  The first graders are becoming such great readers; it would be nice to have a brand new book to look forward to reading!

Students are starting to turn in their Dr. Seuss reading sheet.  It is due by the end of the month.  Please keep track of the stories your son or daughter is reading.

A quick side note- many of the boys and girls ran out of their glue sticks.  If you are at the store sometime this week, maybe you could grab one.

Thanks for always making an effort to making your son or daughters year wonderful!  They are lucky to have such great parents!!!

Thanks,

Miss Boyce

Math: Our class will continue to count by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s this week.  They will be writing number to 100 as well.  Next week sometime I will quiz each on counting to 100 by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s.

Last week the students received a Dr. Seuss reading sheet.  This can be turned in when your son or daughter is finished reading 22 books.  It should be completed by the end of the month.  This week will be our last week for our Dr. Seuss author study.  We will begin a new one at the end of the week: Eric Carle.  I have a feeling the students will love his books just as much as Dr. Seuss!

I hope everyone is enjoying the weather!  It is absolutely beautiful!!!

Also, I still check Mathletics every night to who is working on it. If all of the drills are completed, your son or daughter can do “Live Mathletics” (addition and subtraction facts). We have a chart in the classroom for the students who earn more than 1000 points a week. Some of our students have been on the Mathletics leader board!!!
I hope everyone had a terrific break. I know all of the first graders did! They have not stopped talking about it. Thanks for all the extra help your give your son or daughter. It really helps!
